Mahatma Gandhi P.G. College, Gorakhpur was established by National Educational Society, Gorakhpur. This Society, established in 1909, started its first educational institution – Gorakhpur High School, now known as Mahatma Gandhi Intermediate College in 1909.The visionary leadership of the Managing Committee took action in 1969 for the establishment of a science college by considering the importance of science education for the student of eastern Uttar Pradesh and established Mahatma Gandhi Degree College, solely in science subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Botany and Zoology at undergraduate level.
